Wild Things

10 Apr

Wild Thing Studio is an Etsy shop with some amazingly awesome, eclectic jewelry designs. With motifs ranging from Magritte to Rorschach-inspired ink blots, I love how playful the pieces are while still sticking to a classic gold-black palette.

This is such a great new shop: Ship & Shape offers a carefully edited selection of fine goods, from clothing and home decor to stationery and jewelry, all by hand-picked artists and designers. The site is also perfect for gift-giving since most of the items are unique, affordable, and just downright adorable.

Some favorites: specimen card pack, cosmic wrap, and a lemon thyme bundle necklace.

Fabric Necklaces

21 Jul

What do you guys think of fabric necklaces? I spotted this origami-inspired necklace by Homako at the Renegade Craft Fair last weekend and couldn’t resist its soft feel and the nautical look of the rope.

Her shop is also full of other lightweight, whimsical goodies!

Bicoastal Wonder

10 May

Have you guys heard of the blog Atlantic-Pacific? I just discovered Bee and her magical, sparkling wonder of a fashion blog and I’m always floored by the outfits she’s wearing. The first time I browsed through her site, it was just one fabulous outfit after another and I found myself uttering an audible “Whoa.” She posts every single day and looks like a gem every. single. day. Those layers! Those accessories! Those hairstyles! Oh, Bee, I’m stuck on you like…well, honey.

Champagne Square/Oval Dainty Diamond Ring from BMJNYC on Etsy

I recently stumbled across these rings from BMJNYC on Etsy and just love how elegant and earthy they are. They’re each molded from real twigs — some found at Central Park — which adds an extra bit of intrigue to an already beautiful design. And they can even be customized with diamonds of various colors and sizes.

Awesome and On Sale: 5 Finds to Fall For

22 Jul

I love my share of cheap fashion finds from stores like H&M and Forever21, but do you know what really makes me giddy? The perfect shopping scenario would go something like this:

1. I walk into one of my favorite higher-end stores, like J.Crew or Anthropologie, you know, just to browse.

2. I see something I LOVE.

3. I find out it’s ON SALE (like really on sale where I can actually afford it…none of that down from $300 to $275 crap).

4. And the clincher…it’s in MY SIZE!

Yes, that’s my form of nirvana. And since a few of you have asked that we post more wallet-friendly fashion here, I’ve scoured the Internet for some awesome sales and rounded up a few of my favorites (something I’ll do a few times each month from now on). I even checked to make sure they come in (almost) all sizes so you can check them out to your heart’s content.

I love a good T-shirt that isn't so basic: Perfect Fit Petal Tee, $9.99 at J.Crew

When country meets vintage: Lucca Couture Strapless Floral Lace Dress, $29.99 at Urban Outfitters

This is so feminine and perfect for summertime strolls. Pair it with brighter colors to liven it up: Frenchi Challis Skirt, $12.90 at Nordstrom

The gold and turquoise would be so eye-catching against a strapless dress and tan skin: Tiny Bounty Hoops, $9.99 at Anthropologie

The perfect shoe for work and play (and especially shorts and skirts): Zayna Shoe, $34.99 at Nine West

Not Your Grandma’s Crochet

9 Jul

I’m in love with these sweet crochet necklaces from WREN Handmade. The light pastel colors are perfect for summer and they’re just the right (soft and delicate) statement accessory to V-neck tees and tank tops.
